伏羲
Father of Chinese Civilization (中华文明之父)
One of the Three Sovereigns (三皇) of prehistoric China who taught humanity the essential arts of civilization — hunting, fishing, cooking, and writing. As brother and husband of Nuwa, he co-founded social order and created the Eight Trigrams (八卦), the philosophical foundation of Chinese cosmology.

Chinese Creation Mythology (中国创世神话)
Primordial Era (上古时期)
The complete journey in six key moments
Born from a mysterious union between a divine being and the mortal realm, Fuxi emerged during the primordial chaos alongside his sister Nuwa (女娲).
Fuxi observed the patterns of rivers and floods across the land, learning to control and harness water for early human settlements along the Yellow River.
He invented the fishing net (网) and taught early humans how to hunt with tools, ensuring their survival and the beginning of civilization.
Fuxi developed the earliest form of Chinese writing by observing nature — animal tracks, bird patterns, and celestial movements — replacing knot-records with symbols.
Through deep meditation by the Yellow River, Fuxi created the Bagua (八卦), eight symbols encoding the fundamental laws of the universe — the foundation of the I Ching (易经).
He established the institution of marriage with Nuwa, creating the first social contracts, family structures, and rituals that defined Chinese civilization.
How Fuxi compares to Prometheus + Thoth
Invented tools and taught civilization through wisdom and example, elevating humanity gradually
Prometheus stole fire from the gods to gift humanity directly, an act of rebellion against divine authority
Fuxi elevates humanity through teaching and partnership. Prometheus's gift is a transgression, creating tension between mortals and gods.
Created a cosmological writing system (Bagua) encoding the laws of nature and the universe
Thoth invented hieroglyphics and measured time for the Egyptian pantheon's administrative needs
Both are wisdom-gods who gave writing to humanity, but Fuxi's system is deeply philosophical-cosmological while Thoth's serves administrative and religious record-keeping.
Shared creation duties with Nuwa as equal partner, representing yin-yang harmony and complementary forces
Zeus and Hera had a hierarchical, often conflictual relationship based on power and jealousy
Fuxi and Nuwa represent the ideal of complementary partnership — creation through harmony — while Greek divine couples often dramatize power struggles.
